Tan and Fox - Judged by Lynn K and Joshua W
Best in Show and 1st in Class - Entry 11: Black tan | Female | Adult
Breeder: Crosskeys Mousery |
Judges Comments: Very faint throat spot. Good under color, top could use more depth and pigment (ears and tail pigment). Good side demarcation, be careful of tan creep at base of tail and demarcation from forelimbs to muzzle. Very nice ear size and set. Good tail set as well. Overall nice type. Foot stops deviate from standard. No teat marks, nice thickly furred under. |
2nd in Class - Entry 12: Champagne tan | Female | Adult
Breeder: Crosskeys Mousery |
Judges Comments: Overall nicely typed mouse. Top color looks a little cool for a champagne, under color is nice. Under fur thin, teat marks and inside of back legs in particular. Watch for development of light points (muzzle and tail), a common problem in pink-eyed varieties. Nice ear set but slightly swept back - be watchful so as not to develop creasing. Nice thick tail, nice set. Very nice overall condition. |
Best Opposite Age and 3rd in Class - Entry 81: Chocolate tan | Female | U8
Breeder: Faery Adorabelle |
Judges Comments: Very cool chocolate. However, great belly pigment especially for a U8. Top color may warm up after next moult. Watch for evenness of coat, long guard hairs/fault hairs. Tail looks to be just barely the length of the mouse, try to lengthen it to keep your proportions right. Nice, thick tail. Photos do not show entirety of mouse, cannot check for throat spot. Tan hairs behind ears. Decent tail pigment. Slightly pinched muzzle. Generally want to lean towards racier body type for does, could be between growth spurts. |
6: Black tan | Female | Adult
Breeder: Crosskeys Mousery |
Judges Comments: Photos do not allow us to check for milk mouth or throat spot - for future years, please be sure to show entirety of mouse. Slight scarring visible on tail. Very nice ear set, big and round. Good skull structure. Tan fault hairs evident on sides above demarcation line as well around the rump. Tan belly appears more cream than deep orange/red. Demarcation line looks crisp other than previously mentioned fault hairs. Mouse could be mistaken for a quality black self from above! Thick tail, set is decent, work towards more of a wedge. |
7: Chocolate fox | Male | Adult
Breeder: Little Joys Mousery |
Judges Comments: This mouse shows good progress from pet stock as evidenced by a good, Roman nose shape. Watch color and coat consistency, appears to have mottled coat, could be trick of lighting and camera. Demarcation line could be straighter, areas of white that reaches into top color - watch to make sure bottom color doesn't creep up around muzzle. Tail and set need work. Bottom color excellent. Tulip shaped ears, set a bit high but difficult to tell due to how he is carrying them in the pictures. Slight laddering of underside (thinner coat). |
30: Chocolate fox | Male | Adult
Breeder: Whippoorwill Creek Farm |
Judges Comments: ENTRY ALTERED: Mouse entered as fox but would show better as grizzled fox. Nice white color under. Like most chocolate foxes, suffers from loss of warmth of top color. Can be improved, but be careful not to lose your white under. Top color appears slightly mottled, could be due to lighting/camera. Decent demarcation line along sides, watch for white creeping at tail base. Looks like slightly pinched muzzle, could be demarcation line combined with white background? Ears a little small, watch that set doesn't get higher. |
31: Chocolate tan | Male | Adult
Breeder: Whippoorwill Creek Farm |
Judges Comments: Type could be racier, slightly out of condition due to weight. Good top chocolate color. Under will benefit from attention to color. Pictures do not show entirety of mouse (throat, full belly shot). Side demarcation line pulling up towards middle, watch for fault hairs into top color (may work well bred into a grizzled fox line, though). Light vent. Pinched muzzle. Nice ear set. |
32: Chocolate tan | Female | Adult
Breeder: Whippoorwill Creek Farm |
Judges Comments: Body should be racy, this doe is very overweight. Decent side demarcation. Watch for stray fault hairs along demarcation. Thin under. Very nice length of tail and good set. Top color looks a bit cool, could be lighting. Under color could be richer. Decent ear set and size. Pinched muzzle but nice roman nose shape. Looks to have throat spot. Try to keep demarcation line crisp in front 1/4 of mouse (front limbs/feet), but this could be due to position in photo. |
79: Chocolate fox | Male | U8
Breeder: Faery Adorabelle |
Judges Comments: ENTRY ALTERED: Mouse entered as fox, but would show better as Grizzled Fox. Color looks somewhere in between warm blue and deep chocolate. Fox will sap the warmth from your chocolate, work to preserve this where you can. Under color nice. Side photos have mouse mid-stride, keep demarcation straight. White rings around ears. Clear progress towards Roman nose. Slightly pinched muzzle. Thin under. Tail set ok, try to widen more. Out of condition, cannot differentiate midsection from hips of top shot. Good skin pigmentation. Decent ear set/size. |
